LOCATION - Lat 25°41'16.22", long 80°29'47.47" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.35, T.54 S., R.38 E., Miami-Dade County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090202, west of levee on west side of L-31N Canal, 5.1 mi south of U.S. Highway 41, 3.5 mi north of Howard Drive, and 1 mi west of State Road 997 (Krome Avenue).
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 9 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 9 ft, bottom of last opening 20 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 6.80 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: top of casing, original well G-1487, 10.02 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Mar. 1, 1973 to Jun. 1, 1976; top of base, replacement well G-1487, 8.85 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Jan. 1, 1983 to Apr. 7, 1995; top of base, 8.38 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Apr. 14, 1995 to Nov. 19, 1999; top of flange, 9.4 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Nov. 18, 1999 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1970 to May 1976, June 1983 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite data collection platform.
COOPERATION - Miami-Dade County, Department of Interior, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
REMARKS - The well monitored 1983 to the current year is a replacement for the well G-1487, monitored 1970 to 1976, and has been published under the same station name and number as the original in order to provide continuity of record for the location. The equipment shelter was destroyed April 6, 1995, and reconstructed April 14, 1995. The station was again reconstructed in 1998 to raise the shelter height. The published figures of water levels as elevation, in feet NGVD, for August 13, 1999 to September 30, 1999 are in error. The corrected records are available in the files of the U.S. Geological Survey.
