LOCATION - Lat 27°25'04", long 81°12'01" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NE 1/4 NE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.23, T.35 S., R.31 E., Highlands County, FL, Hydrologic Unit 03090101, on north side of U.S. Highway 98, 0.4 mi east of State Highway 621, 2.6 mi northwest of the Istokpoga Canal, and 9.0 mi east of Lake Placid. Owner: U.S. Geological Survey.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 16 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 13 ft, bottom of last opening 16 ft. Drilled, observation, nonartesian well, gravel from 13 to 16 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 49.02 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: Top of casing, 51.02 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Sep. 10, 1948 to Jun. 23, 1989; Top of recorder shelf, 51.12 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Oct. 3, 1989 to Nov. 21, 2006; Top of flange, 51.07 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929, Nov. 21, 2006 to present. October 3, 1989 to Nov. 21, 2006, measuring point 2.1 ft above land-surface datum.  Land-surface datum is 47.78 ft above National American Vertical Datum of 1988.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1948 to December 1966, October 1969 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and data-collection platform--15-minute interval.
COOPERATION - This gage is monitored in cooperation with the South Florida Water Management District.
REMARKS - The well has become obstructed at a depth of about 6.7 ft, but the well remains in communication with the aquifer.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest daily maximum water level, 50.30 ft above NGVD of 1929, Oct. 9, 1953; lowest, 43.26 ft above NGVD of 1929, June 18, 1975.
