LOCATION - Lat 29°51'12.8", long 89°54'27.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Plaquemines Parish, LA, Hydrologic Unit 08090203, on a four-legged platform, 1000 yards downstream of the outfall of the Caernarvon control structure.
DRAINAGE AREA - Indeterminate.
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 2001 to September 2015, October 2015 to current year (unit values only).

Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The Positive flow direction is south-southeast.

Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Astronomical tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from January 2001 to September 2015.

Extremes for period of record may have been exceeded during period of missing record during Hurricane Katrina, 2005; Hurricane Gustav, 2009; Hurricane Isaac, 2012; Hurricane Ida, 2021 and/or rating model exceedance.
