LOCATION - Lat 35°43'59", long 78°40'32" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Wake County, NC, Hydrologic Unit 03020201, .6 mi south of Tryon Road, .2 mi east of Lake Wheeler Road on North Carolina State University Research Farm. Owner: NCDENR (North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources), Division of Water Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 601 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 81 ft, bottom of last opening 601 ft. Drilled observation well, depth 601 ft, diameter 6 in., cased to 80 ft, open hole from 80 to 447 ft, hole collapsed from 447 to 601 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 359.77 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: Unknown - GW WL Clean up, 0 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 3, 2001 to Aug. 10, 2001; TOP OF 4-INCH PVC CASING (NORTH SIDE) MARKED BLACK, 1.84 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 9, 2001 to Mar. 22, 2002; TOP OF 4" PVC LINER CASING, 1.9 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 21, 2002 to present. Land-surface datum is 359.77 ft above NGVD of 1929. Measuring point: Top of casing, 1.90 ft above land-surface datum.
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 2001 to current year. Continuous record May 2003 to September 2003.
GAGE - Measured periodically with electric tape by NCDENR, Division of Water Quality and USGS.
REMARKS - Well is part of Piedmont/Mountains ground-water study.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 29.02 ft below land-surface datum, September 18, 2003; lowest water level measured, 31.60 ft below land-surface datum, August 22, 2002.
