LOCATION - Lat 36°33'19.8", long 76°26'10.6" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Chesapeake City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010205, in Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 5.20 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening -0.1 ft, bottom of last opening 5.2 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 17.58 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: MP IS TOC, 2.9 ft above land-surface datum, Apr. 30, 2009 to Feb. 28, 2016; MP IS TOC, 0.40 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 1, 2016 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2009 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 30-minute record interval. Prior to October 2009, occasional measurement with chalked and electric tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in surficial aquifer of Quaternary age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 1.27 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 9, 2016; lowest recorded, 3.96 ft below land-surface datum, Aug. 26, 2011.
