LOCATION - Lat 36°36'25", long 76°52'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Suffolk City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010202, 700 ft west of State Highway 615, 0.5 mi southwest of Olive Branch Church, 8.1 mi south of Holland. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 735 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 730 ft, bottom of last opening 735 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 730 to 735 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 75 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 1.20 ft above land-surface datum, Jan. 12, 1988 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1979 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1985 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. July 19, 1995 to Mar. 9, 2010, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 16, 1992 to July 19, 1995, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Mar. 2, 1989 to Oct. 15, 1992, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS. Prior to Oct. 16, 1989, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Middle Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Water level affected by regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 173.30 ft below land-surface datum, on several days in June and July 2012; lowest measured, 226.98 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 24, 2009.
