LOCATION - Lat 36°40'33", long 76°56'26" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Franklin City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010202, at P. D. Camp Community College in Franklin. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 140 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 130 ft, bottom of last opening 140 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 130 to 140 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 34 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: Top of 4.5 inch casing, 2.05 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 29, 2009 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1984 to March 2014 (temporarily discontinued due to compromised casing).
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Prior to Oct. 31, 2009, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in Aquia aquifer of Paleocene age. Water level affected by regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 29.51 ft below land-surface datum, Mar. 19, 1985; lowest recorded, 39.31 ft below land-surface datum, July 27, 2010.
