LOCATION - Lat 36°41'25", long 76°54'48" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Isle of Wight County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010202, on Lynn Road, 0.45 mi north of intersection with U.S. Highways 258 and 58, and 0.7 mi northeast of Franklin. Owner: International Paper Company, formerly Union Camp Corporation.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 860 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 720 ft, bottom of last opening 860 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 720 to 725 ft, 800 to 805 ft, 855 to 860 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 37 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 4.56 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 25, 1979 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - March 1969 to November 2013 (temporarily discontinued due to compromised casing).
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. August 1993 to March 2007, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel. October 1986 to August 1993, continuous strip-chart recorder. September 1983 to October 1986, occasional measurement with chalked tape. October 1982 to September 1983, continuous strip-chart recorder. November 1971 to October 1982, occasional measurement with chalked tape. March 1969 to November 1971, continuous strip-chart recorder. Prior to March 1969, continuous strip-chart recorder and occasional measurement with chalked tape.
REMARKS - Well is located in Lower Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Water level affected by local pumpage and regional drawdown. Water from this well is known to contain concentrations of dissolved solids greater than 1,000 mg/L.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 108.48 ft below land-surface datum, Mar. 9, 10, 2012; lowest measured, 219.29 ft below land-surface datum, May 18, 1978.
