LOCATION - Lat 36°47'03", long 76°38'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Suffolk City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080208, 700 ft south of U.S. Highway 460, 0.5 mi west of Providence Church, 1.0 mi west of Kings Fork. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 694 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 684 ft, bottom of last opening 694 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 684 to 694 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 72 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 1.70 ft above land-surface datum, Jul. 14, 1987 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 1980 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to August 1985 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger, 15-minute record interval. Aug. 5, 1981 to Mar. 21, 2005, continuous strip-chart recorder. Prior to Aug. 5, 1981, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Middle Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous age. Water level affected by local pumpage and regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 128.24 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 18, 1980; lowest recorded, 192.37 ft below land-surface datum, Sept. 24, 2002.
