LOCATION - Lat 36°47'03", long 76°38'37" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Suffolk City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080208, 700 ft south of U.S. Highway 460, 0.5 mi west of Providence Church, 1.0 mi west of Kings Fork. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 478 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 468 ft, bottom of last opening 478 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 468 to 478 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 72 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 0.60 ft above land-surface datum, Feb. 18, 1981 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 1981 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1985 in the files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger, 15-minute record interval. July 20, 1995 to Mar. 21, 2005, yearly measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 1, 1988 to July 20, 1995, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape. Feb. 15, 1986 to Sept. 30, 1988, continuous strip-chart recorder. Prior to Feb. 15, 1986, occasional measurement with chalked tape.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Brightseat-Upper Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous-Paleocene age. Water level affected by local pumpage and regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 147.67 ft below land-surface datum, Nov. 5, 1984; lowest measured, 190.83 ft below land-surface datum, Jan. 11, 1994.
