LOCATION - Lat 36°47'32", long 80°07'03" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Patrick County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010103, 300 ft west of State Highway 623, 1.0 mi northeast of intersection of State Highways 57 and 623, and 6.2 mi west of Philpott. Owner: Commonwealth of Virginia.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 250 ft. Upper casing diameter 6.25 in; top of first opening 45 ft, bottom of last opening 50 ft. Drilled unused water well, cased to 9 ft, open hole 9 to 250 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,055 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 0.5 ft above land-surface datum, May 6, 1966 to Aug. 25, 2016; TOP OF CASING, 0.54 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 25, 2016 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1966 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1987 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Oct. 1, 1999 to Aug. 25, 2016, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel. Oct. 1, 1996 to Oct. 1, 1999, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 1, 1985 to Oct. 1, 1996, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape. Prior to Oct. 1, 1985, occasional measurement with chalked tape.
REMARKS - Well is located in Lynchburg Group of Late Proterozoic age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 1.06 ft below land-surface datum, 05/22/2020 at 03:45:00; lowest measured, 27.00 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 2, 2002.
