LOCATION - Lat 36°51'33", long 76°35'12" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Suffolk City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080206, 500 ft west of old Chuckatuck High School in Chuckatuck. Owner: Virginia Department of Environmental Quality.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 447 ft. Upper casing diameter 4 in; top of first opening 437 ft, bottom of last opening 447 ft. Drilled observation water well, screened 437 to 447 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 52 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF CASING, 1.50 ft above land-surface datum, Apr. 24, 1980 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 1980 to current year. Unpublished records available prior to October 1985 in files of the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
GAGE - Electronic data logger, 15-minute record interval. May 5, 1985 to Mar. 22, 2005, continuous strip-chart recorder. Prior to May 5, 1981, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Brightseat-Upper Potomac aquifer of Cretaceous-Paleocene age. Water level affected by local pumpage and regional drawdown.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 108.80 ft below land-surface datum, June 30, 1980; lowest recorded, 160.58 ft below land-surface datum, Aug. 24, 2007.
