LOCATION - Lat 37°16'53", long 79°55'21" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Roanoke City, VA, Hydrologic Unit 03010101, 700 ft south of intersection of 10th Street and Orange Avenue in Roanoke. Owner: Nelson-Roanoke Corporation.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 55 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined. Drilled unused water well, length of casing unknown.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 930 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 2.50 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 24, 2004 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1966 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Oct. 1, 1996 to Mar. 24, 2004, occasional measurement with chalked tape by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Oct. 1, 1985 to Oct. 1, 1996, bimonthly measurement with chalked tape. July 20, 1974 to Sept. 30, 1985, occasional measurement with chalked tape. Prior to July 20, 1974, continuous strip-chart recorder.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Rome Formation of Cambrian age. Prior to 1974, reported as Elbrook Formation.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level measured, 12.36 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 18, 1986; lowest measured, 19.29 ft below land-surface datum, June 23, 1987.
