LOCATION - Lat 38°10'02", long 78°09'42" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Orange County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02080106, off U.S. Highway 15, 2.3 mi north of Gordonsville.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 98 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined. Drilled observation water well, cased to 11 ft, open hole from 11 to 98 ft.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 480 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: TOP OF SHELF, 2.10 ft above land-surface datum, Feb. 8, 2008 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - February 1965 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Oct. 31, 1995 to Mar. 10, 2004, occasional measurement with chalked taped by Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division personnel. Prior to Oct. 31, 1995, continuous strip-chart recorder.
COOPERATION - Records provided by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality - Water Division.
REMARKS - Well is located in Phyllite of Evington Group of Precambrian or Cambrian age. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 11.83 ft below land-surface datum, Apr. 10, 1973; lowest recorded, 38.97 ft below land-surface datum, Aug. 27, 2002.
