USGS Water-Year Summary 2023
385428091265001 New Florence
Cambrian-Ordovician aquifer system
Canadian Series
LOCATION - Lat 38°54'28.0", long 91°26'51.0" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SW 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.23, T.48 N., R.5 W., Montgomery County, MO, Hydrologic Unit 07110008,
REVISIONS HISTORY -
Revisions: Land-surface datum was updated to 876.25 ft NAVD88 on May 22, 2023, as determined by a GNSS survey by Missouri DNR. Land-surface datum was previously published as 877 ft NGVD29 from a topographic map. Discrete water-level measurements prior to May 22, 2023, are referenced to the original datum.

The data from 05/29/1981 to 12/09/2009 was modified after it was previously set to 'Approved' status. A -2.3 ft measuring point height correction was applied to this period to reference the water level data to land surface instead of the measuring point which was referenced in the field during this entire period.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 876.25 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: unknown, 2.3 ft above land-surface datum, Apr. 1, 1956 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 29, 1981 to present.
GAGE - Stevens model A-35 chart recorder installed May 29, 1981. Stevens model 7001 digital recorder installed August 8, 1988. March 2, 2000 to present; DCP with float, encoder, and telemetry capability was installed as the water level recording device.
COOPERATION - Data furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR); Record from May 29, 1981 to March 1, 2000 furnished from MDNR.
REMARKS -

Record from 05/29/1981 to 06/14/1982 is furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). No water level measurements data are available for this period because they have been archived by MDNR. The record was manually processed from strip chart data. This record is considered fair. Record from 06/15/1982 to 08/07/1988 is furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). Fifteen water level measurements are available for this period. The record was manually processed from strip chart data that was digitized. Data were considered in error during periods when the float hung, these periods were deleted. This record is considered good and accurate to +/- 0.5 ft. Record from 08/08/1988 to 06/06/1989 is furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). Because of probable bad water level measurements that did not agree with the A-35 readings, missed reversals, and scale problems, the record was worked backwards from a period of good record. The record looks abnormally high and therefore is rated poor. Record from 08/29/1989 to 11/20/1990 is furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). 10 water level measurements data are available for this period. The record was processed by ADR unit values. Data were considered in error during periods when the float hung or there was a descrepancy between starting and ending water levels. These periods were deleted. This record is considered good. The data and record from 11/21/90 to 08/26/1991 is furnished by the USGS. The water level measurements do not agree with the A-35 strip chart data that was used to work the data. The reported data uses the strip chart data and the water level measurements were basically ignored. The descrepancy between the two is 1.5 t 2.5 ft. This record is considered poor. Data from 08/27/1991 to 06/02/2000 is furnished by Missouri Department of Natural Resources (MDNR)and is considered good. Data from 03/02/2000 to 12/09/2009 has been processed by the USGS with limited field water level measurements (11 measurements) during the period to verify the recorded water levels. This record is considered good. The record from 12/09/2009 to 10/03/2010 is good based on 4 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.2 ft. The record from 10/04/2010 to 08/08/2011 is good based on 4 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.2 ft. Much of this inaccuracy is caused by the float sticking. The record from 08/08/2011 to 08/06/2012 is good based on 4 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.2 ft. Inaccuracy is due to the regular float sticking. The record from 08/07/2012 to 08/08/2013 is good based on 3 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 08/09/2013 to 01/14/2015 is good based on 3 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.10 ft. The record from 01/15/2015 to 07/05/2016 is fair based on 4 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.15 ft. The record from 07/06/2016 to 11/13/2016 is good based on 2 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.10 ft. The record from 11/14/2016 to 07/10/2017 is good based on 2 water level measurements made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.10 ft. The record from 07/11/2017 to 01/30/2018 is good based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 01/31/2018 to 02/26/2018 is good based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 02/27/2018 to 08/22/2018 is good based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 08/23/2018 to 04/29/2019 is good based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft. The record from 04/30/2019 to 05/28/2019 is fair based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.20 ft. Fair rating is based on several days of missing data due to a stuck float. The record from 05/29/2019 to 02/18/2020 is good based on 1 water level measurement made during the period to verify the recorded data and is accurate to +/- 0.05 ft.

All later correction notes and remarks can be found in RMS as of 02/19/2020.
