LOCATION - Lat 39°09'48.22", long 78°00'15.73" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Clarke County, VA, Hydrologic Unit 02070004, 0.3 mi southeast of the intersection of State Highways 7 and 7 Business at Chet Hobert Park.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 600 ft. Upper casing diameter 8 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 648.03 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: TOP OF STEEL CASING, 1.26 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 15, 2002 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2002 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic data logger and pressure transducer, 15-minute record interval. Prior to Apr. 18, 2008, occasional measurement with chalked tape by USGS personnel.
REMARKS - Well is located in the Stonehenge Formation of the Beekmantown Group of Lower Cambrian age. Water level affected by magnitude 5.8 Mineral, VA earthquake on Aug. 23, 2011. Water level affected by local pumpage.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level recorded, 1.50 ft below land surface datum, May 5, 2019. Highest water level measured, 1.97 ft below land-surface datum, Dec. 16, 2018; lowest recorded, 45.43 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 15, 2002.
