LOCATION - Lat 40°18'44.3", long 78°07'52.5" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Huntingdon County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 02050303, at Trough Creek State Park, and near Newburg.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 105 ft. Upper casing diameter undefined; top of first opening 18 ft, bottom of last opening 105 ft. Drilled observation well, cased to 18 ft, open hole. This is a cascading well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 973 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: top of casing, 3.3 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 17, 1969 to Apr. 17, 2003; top of instrument shelf, 3.63 ft above land-surface datum, Apr. 17, 2003 to present. Elevation of land surface is from Lidar.
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1969 to current year.
GAGE - Data collection platform with 15-minute recording interval since April 2023; prior, 60-minute recording interval. Satellite telemetry at station.
COOPERATION - Site maintained in cooperation with the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS - Water levels occasionally affected by local pumping from unknown source. Daily maximum water levels are available for this well for the period of record. For some years, daily minimum and daily mean water levels may also be available from the USGS Pennsylvania Water Science Center Office.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Prior to October 2000, the extremes shown were based on extremes of the daily maximum depth below land-surface datum. Since that date, the extremes are based on the instantaneous depth below land-surface datum. Highest water level, 48.82 ft below land-surface datum, Jun 23, l972; lowest, 56.89 ft below land-surface datum, Nov 24, 2008.
