LOCATION - Lat 44°09'18", long 69°56'40" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Kennebec County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, 690 ft northeast of the intersection of Hallowell Neck Road, Libby Road, and Plains Road, Litchfield. Owner: U.S. Geological Survey.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 62 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 59 ft, bottom of last opening 62 ft. Drilled unconfined observation well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 313.82 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of casing between file marks, 2.19 ft below land-surface datum, Sep. 1, 2005 to present. Top of casing is 0.51 ft above the general land surface.
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1976 to current year. Feb. 1990 to Mar. 2001, monthly measurement with chalked steel tape by USGS personnel. Daily mean data were published for Oct. 1989 to Jan. 1990. Prior to Oct. 1989, daily mean data were published every fifth day.
GAGE - Electronic water-level recorder.
REMARKS - Gaps in record indicate missing data. Aquifer: Glacial sand and gravel (ice-contact deposits) of Pleistocene age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest daily water level, 38.76 ft below land-surface datum, June 2, 1984; lowest daily water level, 51.89 ft below land-surface datum, Feb. 22-26, 2002.
