LOCATION - Lat 44°18'01", long 69°45'55" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Kennebec County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01030003, on State Route 9, at Pine Tree State Arboretum, approximately 1.2 mi south of the intersection with U.S. Route 201 and State Route 105 in Augusta. Owner: U.S. Geological Survey.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 160 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening 38 ft, bottom of last opening 160 ft. Drilled bedrock well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 211.19 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of steel casing between file marks, 2.0 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 27, 2004 to present. Land-surface datum is at the general land surface.
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 2004 to current year.
GAGE - Electronic water-level recorder.
REMARKS - Water level often affected by pumping. Gaps in record indicate missing data. Aquifer: Bedrock of Devonian age.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest daily water level, 9.39 ft below land-surface datum, March 31, 2010; lowest daily water level, 18.45 ft below land-surface datum, Oct. 20, 2016.
