The land surface at the site is 688.97 plus-or-minus 5 feet above the North American Vertical Datum of 1988.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 73.35 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening 68 ft, bottom of last opening 73 ft. The hole for well PI98-12B was drilled with an 8.25-inch-diameter power auger to a depth of 85 feet. The well is constructed of a 5-foot-long, 2-inch-diameter, stainless steel wire-wound screen, attached to 70.43 feet of 2-inch-diameter, black steel pipe. This casing stuck up 2.43 feet above land surface on Sept. 10, 1998. The open interval of the well is 68.4 - 73.4 feet below land surface and the well is 73.4 feet deep, according to drilling log. A total well depth of 73.35 feet below land surface was measured on May 18, 2011, and this measurement was updated in GWSI database.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 686.61 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: MP is mark on casing, not from protection post. MP height is from RP, not LS. RP is 0.04' AL, 2.41 ft above land-surface datum, Nov. 6, 2012 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD -
Periodic water levels were recorded from 10 Sept. 1998 to 18 May 2011. Hourly water levels were recorded from 6 Nov. 2012 to 06 Jul. 2017 at 18:00 CDT with a pressure transducer and data logger, except during the following periods:
05 Jan. 2015 at 16:00 CST – 25 Apr. 2015 at 11:00 CDT: due to a failed transducer thermistor.
Many data are missing during 25 Jan. 2016 during 14:00-4 Apr. 2016 at 10:55 CDT because the transducer began to fail intermittently.
19 Nov. 2016 at 17:00 CDT: due to unknown water level spike.
07 Dec. 2016 at 00:00 CST: due to unknown water level spike.
10 Dec. 2016 at 21:00 CST: due to unknown water level spike.
04 Apr. 2017 at 14:00 CDT: due to unknown water level spike.
08 Apr. 2017 at 05:00 CDT: due to unknown water level spike.
23 May 2017 at 13:00 CDT: due to unknown water level spike.
When possible, missing daily-average water levels (above) were accurately estimated through 01 July 2016 based on the trend of the hydrograph during these periods.
GAGE -
Water level and water temperature was measured with a WaterLOG H-3123 submersible pressure transducer accurate to 0.01 feet and 0.1°C respectively. Data were recorded by a Campbell Scientific, Inc. CR10 data logger hourly. The data logger is housed in a 14-inch X 16-inch grey fiberglass shelter attached to a 1-1/4-inch antenna mast. The gage is powered by a 20W solar panel and is telemetered by cellular telephone.
The WaterLOG H-3123 pressure transducer was removed from the well on 06 Jul. 2017 at 18:00 CDT. No longer recording continuous WL and WT data in this well. Site has been discontinued from active monitoring network for the Prairie Island Indian Community.
COOPERATION - Well PI98-12B is operated by the U.S. Geological Survey in cooperation with the Prairie Island Indian Community. The monitoring well is part of a network of monitoring wells; used to collect water quality and water quantity data for the Prairie Island Indian Community.
