LOCATION - Lat 44°46'30.53", long 95°00'21.75" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Renville County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 07020004, The piezometer is located in Olivia, MN. The piezometer is located in a city park and camping area, 85 ft. east of the City of Olivia water tower. The piezometer is located approximately 0.5 miles SW of the intersection of MN HWY 212 (Lincoln Ave.) and MN HWY 71 (13th St.).
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 144.26 ft. Upper casing diameter 1.38 in; top of first opening 141.15 ft, bottom of last opening 144.13 ft. The hole for piezometer OT-145 was drilled with an 6.75-inch-diameter, rotosonic drill rig to a depth of 145.0 feet. The piezometer is constructed of a 2.98-feet-long, 1.38-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC, 0.010-inch slotted Brady Campbell Mfg. Inc. well screen, attached with glued PVC couplings with length/s of 20.00 feet of 1.38-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC well casing. The piezometer casing measuring point (stickup) was 2.80 feet (1074.24 ft. NAVD88, +/- 0.05 ft.) above land surface when measured on 03 Aug. 2017. The open interval of the piezometer is between 141.15 and 144.13 feet below land surface and the total well depth is 144.26 feet below land surface.

This piezometer is screened in a glacial till layer, which is the confining unit above a confined aquifer.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 1,071.44 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Black mark on top of 1.25-inch diameter well casing, not protection post, 2.80 ft above land-surface datum, Aug. 3, 2017 to present. The measuring point is a black mark on the top of the white PVC 1.38-inch well casing, which was 2.80 feet above land surface on 03 Aug. 2017. Elevation of the measuring point is 1074.24 plus-or-minus 0.05 feet above sea level, North American Vertical Datum of 1988, based on historical differential GPS data and an optical survey on 24 Oct. 2017.
PERIOD OF RECORD -

Water levels were recorded periodically from 10 Aug. 2017 to 10 Oct. 2018. Water levels were recorded every 5-minutes from 03 Oct. 2017 at 11:55 CDT to 07 Nov. 2017 at 17:55 CST. Water levels were recorded hourly from 07 Nov. 2017 at 18:00 CST to 16 Nov. 2017 at 11:00 CST. Water levels were recorded quarter-hourly from 07 Nov. 2017 at 12:00 CST to 23 May 2018 at 16:30 CDT. Water levels were recorded every 1-minute from 23 May 2018 at 16:31 CDT to 01 Jun. 2018 at 10:35 CDT. Water levels were recorded quarter-hourly from 01 Jun. 2018 at 10:45 CDT to 10 Jul. 2018 at 18:30 CDT. Water levels were records every 1-minute from 10 Jul. 2018 at 18:45 CDT to 13 Jul. 2018 at 09:19 CDT. Water levels were recorded quarter-hourly from 13 Jul. 2018 at 09:30 CDT to 10 Oct. 2018 at 14:30 CDT, except during the following periods:

03 Oct. 2017 at 11:55-20:00 CDT: due to transducer deployment acting like a slug.

06 Oct. 2017 at 08:40 CDT - 18 Oct. 2017 at 13:20 CDT: due to slug test during this period.

18 Oct. 2017 at 14:40 CDT - 20 Oct. 2017 at 21:45 CDT: due to slug test during this period.

23 Oct. 2017 at 10:15 CDT - 07 Nov. 2017 at 18:45 CST: due to slug test & water quality sampling during this period.

GAGE - Continuous water level, water temperature, and battery voltage were measured with an OTT Orpheus Mini 0-10m pressure transducer. These data were recorded hourly by the same OTT Orpheus Mini pressure transducer, which had a data logger built into it. The data logger was housed inside of the 1.38-inch PVC well casing, which has an aluminum locking well cap on top the 6-inch black steel protection post. The gage was powered by 3 AA alkaline batteries that were inside of the data logger communications rod. Data were downloaded manually and no telemetry or phone line was wired into the gage.

The pressure transducer and data logger were removed from the well on 10 Oct. 2018 at 14:30 CDT. Data collection for the Confining Beds "phase 2" study have concluded and all data logging equipment have been removed from the sites.
COOPERATION - This site was operated (2017-2018) by the University of Minnesota as a monitoring well for the University of Minnesota Hydrogeology Field Site. The well was used as part of the Glacial Confining Beds Study during 03 Aug. 2017 to 10 Oct. 2018. The Confining Beds Study was a collaborative effort between the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund, Iowa State University, Minnesota Geological Survey, and the U.S. Geological Survey.
