LOCATION - Lat 44°49'55", long 68°21'59" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Hancock County, ME, Hydrologic Unit 01050002, on State Route 9, 0.25 mi west of the intersection with State Route 181 in Amherst. Owner: U.S. Geological Survey.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 47 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening 37 ft, bottom of last opening 47 ft. Screen slot size 0.006 in. Wash-bored unconfined observation well.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 336.2 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Top of PVC casing before shortening, 3.49 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 5, 1989 to Jun. 30, 2004; Top of PVC casing between marks, 1.2 ft above land-surface datum, Jun. 29, 2004 to Jun. 30, 2009; Top of PVC casing between marks, 1.41 ft above land-surface datum, Jun. 29, 2009 to Mar. 16, 2017; Top of PVC casing between marks, 1.51 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 15, 2017 to Oct. 8, 2019; Top of PVC casing between marks, 1.63 ft above land-surface datum, Oct. 7, 2019 to present. Final measuring point ended when well was removed on Oct. 13, 2021. Land-surface datum was at the general land surface.
PERIOD OF RECORD - November 1989 to September 2000 (discontinued), December 2001 to October 2021 (discontinued).
GAGE - Electronic water-level recorder.
REMARKS - Water level occasionally affected by pumping. Gaps in record indicate missing data. Aquifer: Glacial till of Pleistocene age.
