LOCATION - Lat 45°05'42.91", long 93°10'53.38" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in SE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.09, T.30 N., R.23 W., Ramsey County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 07010206, The well is located in the former Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) site, 0.8 miles east of the USGS Mounds View office. The well is located approximately 0.5 miles NE of the intersection of US HWY 35W and County Rd. 10 (Mounds View Blvd).
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 9.24 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening 7.24 ft, bottom of last opening 9.24 ft. Well 01U611R is a groundwater observation well that was installed on 08 December 2020 with a hollow stem drill rig (Geoprobe) to 9.24 feet. The well is constructed of a 2.00-feet-long, 2-inch-diameter, stainless steel, 0.010-inch slotted, well screen, attached with to length/s of 2-inch-diameter, stainless steel well casing. The well casing measuring point (stickup) was 2.58 feet (891.46 ft. NAVD88, +/- 0.05 ft.) above land surface when measured on 24 May 2021. The open interval of the well is between 7.24 and 9.24 feet below land surface and the total well depth is 9.24 feet below land surface.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 888.88 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: Black mark on top of 2-inch steel well casing, NOT protection post, 2.58 ft above land-surface datum, Dec. 8, 2020 to present.
PERIOD OF RECORD -
Water levels were recorded periodically from 08 December 2020 to 10 June 2024. Water levels were recorded hourly from 09 July 2021 at 12:00 CDT to 10 June 2024 at 09:00 CDT, except during the following periods:
28 Sept. 2021 at 14:00-16:00 CDT: due to deleting data (draw-down curve) from a sampling event at a nearby well
12 Oct. 2021 at 11:00-14:00 CDT: due to deleting data (draw-down curve) from a sampling event at a nearby well
19 Oct. 2021 at 11:00 CDT - 20 Oct. 2021 at 17:00 CDT: due to deleting data (artificial WL rise) from a nearby bioremediation injection
01 Dec. 2021 at 13:00 CST - 02 Dec. 2021 at 08:00 CST: due to deleting data (artificial WL rise) from a nearby bioremediation injection
23 Feb. 2022 at 08:00-11:00 CST: due to deleting data (draw-down curve) from a sampling event at a nearby well
GAGE -
Continuous water level, water temperature, and battery voltage were measured with a previously-used OTT Orpheus Mini 0-10m pressure transducer. These data were recorded hourly from 09 July 2021 at 12:00 CDT to 10 June 2024 at 09:00 CDT by the same OTT Orpheus Mini pressure transducer, which had a data logger built into it. The data logger was hung from the top of the 2-inch PVC well casing and housed inside the aluminum locking well cap. The pressure transducer was powered by 3 AA alkaline batteries that were inside of the data logger communications rod. Data were downloaded manually and no telemetry at the** gage.
The pressure transducer and data logger were removed from the well on 10 Jun. 2024 at 09:00 CDT. Data collection for the USGS Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) "Site K" study have concluded and all data logging equipment have been removed from the sites.
COOPERATION - This site was operated from 08 December 2020 to 10 June 2024 by the U.S. Geological Survey as a monitoring well for the USGS Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) "Site K" study. The USGS Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant (TCAAP) "Site K" study is a collaborative study between the U.S. Geological Survey and the U.S. Army.
