50020100 LAGO GARZAS NEAR ADJUNTAS, PR
LOCATION - Lat 18°08'01.08", long 66°44'34.66" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Adjuntas Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010002, in power gate tower of Garzas Dam on Río Vacas, 1.7 mi (2.7 km) upstream from Río Garzas, and 2.2 mi (3.5 km) southwest of Adjuntas.
DRAINAGE AREA - 6.13 mi². (15.9 km2).
REVISIONS HISTORY - Datum of gage was previously reported as 2400 ft (731.5 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL-Old PR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - January 1988 to May 1989, March 1993 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
COOPERATION - Puerto Rico Electrical Power Authority (PREPA).
REMARKS - Lake is formed by earthfill dam completed in 1943. Outflow from lake controlled by vertical-lift sluice gate and fixed-crest concrete spillway. Spillway elevation, 2,415.00 ft (736.09 m). Lake is used for irrigation and power generation. Operated by Puerto Rico Electric Power Authorithy (PREPA).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation 2,418.92 ft (737.28 m), September 20, 2017; minimum elevation, 2,364.79 ft (720.79 m), August 23, 1988.
