50095800 LAGO MELANIA NEAR GUAYAMA, PR
LOCATION - Lat 17°58'53", long 66°08'43" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Guayama Municipio, PR, Hydrologic Unit 21010004, on right bank in a concrete intake tower at damsite, 2.1 mi (3.379 m) east from Villodas, 1.4 mi (2.253 km) north from Antena de Radio (WXRF), and 2.5 mi (4.022 km) northeast from Jobos School.
REVISIONS HISTORY - Datum of gage was previously reported in the site file as 164 ft (50.0 m) above NGVD29 and LMSL-Old PR. NGVD29 datum does not exist in Puerto Rico and the correct LMSL-Old PR elevation is 0 ft, published historical records did not reflect this site file typo. Revised to PRVD02 Datum in October 2022. 
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS

GAGE - Water-stage recorder, satellite and radio telemetry at station. Datum of gage is above Local Mean Sea Level (LMSL- Old PR) and above Puerto Rico Vertical Datum of 2002 (PRVD02).
REMARKS - Transbasin diversion from Río Guamaní through the Canal de Guamaní Oeste. The Lago Melanía dam structure, an earthfill embankment, was completed in 1914. The dam originally had a length of 1,144 ft (348.7 m) and a height of 30 ft (9.14 m). In 1997 was rehabilitated and its height was increased to 36 ft (10.97 m). At its normal pool elevation of 131.74 ft (40.15 m), the reservoir has a storage capacity of 312 acre-ft (0.38 hm3).
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum elevation 132.17 ft (40.29 m), September 20, 2017; minimum elevation, 109.02 ft (33.23 m), July 18, 2008.
