> Site Information
LOCATION.--Lat 40°49'48.6", long 72°54'22.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Suffolk County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02030202, on left bank 25 ft upstream from Long Island Railroad bridge, 0.6 mi northeast of Yaphank Station, and 0.7 mi southeast of Yaphank.
DRAINAGE AREA.--73.1 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1942 to current year.
REVISIONS HISTORY.--2002 (M). WDR-US-2009: Drainage area.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and concrete control. Datum of gage is 17.95 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 16.92 ft above NAVD of 1988 (VERTCON). Prior to Feb. 2, 1967, at datum 1.00 ft higher.
REMARKS.--Some regulation by two lakes upstream from station. Cellular gage-height telemeter at station.
Water Years 2014-22: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 165 ft³/s, Oct. 15, 2005, gage height, 2.19 ft; minimum discharge, 2.8 ft³/s, Feb. 24, 1967, gage height, 0.73 ft, result of temporary construction upstream.
