  • January 22, 2018 - USGS Water Data availability during lapse in Federal funding

    Due to a lapse in Federal funding, the U.S. Geological Survey must suspend those parts of its data collection and distribution processes requiring human intervention. However, automated reporting and serving of telemetered data will continue.

    Users may note some degradation in the quality and completeness of real-time streamflow, groundwater and water-quality data from some reporting stations due to the suspension of field calibrations and adjustments, especially as high flows occur, aquatic vegetation becomes dominant, or ice forms in high altitude streams. The USGS will continue to monitor some performance aspects of its network using a skeleton workforce.

LOCATION.--Lat 43°08'34.0", long 75°20'16.1" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Oneida County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02020004, on right bank at upstream side of bridge on County Highway 32 (Valley Road), 1.0 mi south of State Highway 69 in Oriskany, and 2.3 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA.--144 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1901 to November 1904, October 2014 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 428.66 ft above NGVD of 1929. Prior to October 2014, at different datum.
REMARKS.--Slight diversion from Chenango River basin for operation of Erie (Barge) Canal.
Water Years 2015-16: Records fair except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge (since September 2014), 2,590 ft³/s, Apr. 3, 2015, gage height, 7.07 ft; minimum discharge (since September 2014), 38 ft³/s, Sept. 29, 30, 2016, gage height, 2.22 ft.
