LOCATION.--Lat 42°05'30", long 78°44'52" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Cattaraugus County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 05010001, 3.6 mi south of State Route 83, in Allegheny State Park, near Red House.
WELL CHARACTERISTICS.--Depth 52.8 ft. Upper casing diameter 6 in; top of first opening undefined, bottom of last opening undefined. Cased to 52.8 ft, open end. Elevation of land-surface datum is 1,467.08 ft above NGVD of 1929 and 1,466.59 ft above NAVD of 1988 (VERTCON).
DATUM.--Land-surface datum is 1,467.08 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Measuring point: Top of casing, 2.23 ft above land-surface datum, Sep. 21, 2012 to present; File marks on 2" PVC pipe, 2.22 ft above land-surface datum, Mar. 6, 2018 to present.  
PERIOD OF RECORD.--September 1950 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder--15 minute; periodic measurements by USGS personnel.
REMARKS.--Well is in a New York State owned and operated campground area. Extreme low water levels occurred from 1969 to 1979 due to the effect of pumping at the campground area. A central water system for the campground, utilizing a well about 1.5 mi from the observation well was put in operation in 1980. Satellite water-level telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Highest water level measured, 0.97 ft below land-surface datum, June 26, 1989; lowest measured, 34.87 ft below land-surface datum, Nov. 21, 1972 due to nearby pumping.
