LOCATION.--Lat 43°07'31.4", long
73°35'05.7" referenced to North American Datum of
1983, Washington County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02020003, on left
bank 1,400 ft downstream from bridge on U.S. Highway 4 at
Thomson, and 500 ft upstream from dam at Lock 5 of the
Champlain (Barge) Canal.
DRAINAGE AREA.--3,000 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--September 2014 to current year.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum
of gage is 81.65 ft above NAVD of 1988.
REMARKS.--Flow regulated appreciably by Great Sacandaga
Lake since March 1930 (station 01323500) and Indian Lake since
1898 (station 01314500). Diurnal fluctuation caused by
powerplants upstream from station. Water is diverted into St.
Lawrence River basin through Glens Falls feeder, Bond Creek,
and Champlain (Barge) Canal, and occasionally may be received
from that basin through summit level of Champlain (Barge) Canal
at Dunham Basin.
Water Years 2014-20: Records good except those for estimated
daily discharges, which are poor.

36,400 ft³/s, Nov. 2, 2019, gage height, 24.89 ft; minimum
discharge, 1,270 ft³/s, Aug. 15, 2019, gage height, 19.75 ft;
minimum gage height, 19.68 ft, May 29, Sept. 9, 2015.
