  • January 22, 2018 - USGS Water Data availability during lapse in Federal funding

    Due to a lapse in Federal funding, the U.S. Geological Survey must suspend those parts of its data collection and distribution processes requiring human intervention. However, automated reporting and serving of telemetered data will continue.

    Users may note some degradation in the quality and completeness of real-time streamflow, groundwater and water-quality data from some reporting stations due to the suspension of field calibrations and adjustments, especially as high flows occur, aquatic vegetation becomes dominant, or ice forms in high altitude streams. The USGS will continue to monitor some performance aspects of its network using a skeleton workforce.

LOCATION.--Lat 41°14'58", long 73°40'13" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Westchester County, NY, Hydrologic Unit 02030101, on left bank 1,300 ft downstream from bridge on Beaverdam Road, and 1.2 mi southeast of Katonah. Water-quality sampling site at discharge station.
DRAINAGE AREA.--18.7 mi².
PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1999 to June 2009 (discontinued).
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Elevation of gage is 220 ft above NGVD of 1929, from topographic map.
REMARKS.--Records good. Satellite gage-height telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD.--Maximum discharge, 2,200 ft³/s, Sept. 16, 1999, gage height, 6.76 ft, from rating curve extended above 580 ft³/s on basis of step-backwater analysis of peak flow; minimum discharge, 1.1 ft³/s, Aug. 4, 5, 1999, Aug. 14, 16, 20, 26, 2002, Oct. 6, 2005; minimum gage height, 0.73 ft, Aug. 14, 16, 20, 26, 2002.
PERIOD OF RECORD1.--March 2001 to current year.
PESTICIDE DATA: 2001-02 (e), 2003 (d), 2004 (c), 2006-07 (a), 2008 (b).
REMARKS1.--For many of the samples collected, analysis was performed using different analytical methods. When these methods share one or more compounds, separate tables are provided so that each compound can be presented. A sampling method code of 70 indicates a grab sample.
