The Ohio Water Science Center has transitioned to a new data management software package. While you may not have noticed this transition, some sites may have problems or delays in being updated. We are actively monitoring these conditions and are resolving them as quickly as possible. See the Dec 8 news entry for more information at: https://help.waterdata.usgs.gov/news
03272100 Great Miami River at Middletown, OH LOCATION.-- Lat 39°31'11.59", long 84°24'45.64", Butler County, OH, Hydrologic Unit 05080002, on downstream side of Central Avenue bridge on State Route 122, 1.9 mi downstream from Browns Run, and on northwest side of city of Middletown. DRAINAGE AREA.-- 3,134 mi2. PERIOD OF RECORD.-- July 1994 to current year. REMARKS.-- Flood flow regulated by five retarding basins upstream from station plus other reservoirs. See REMARKS for stations 03270500 and 03272000. Recharge to the City of Middletown wellfield is largely induced infiltration from the Great Miami River. Groundwater pumpage upstream from the station is returned to the river as treated wastewater 4.3 mi downstream from the station. Also, a small amount of water pumped from groundwater farther upstream is diverted to the Little Miami River watershed through the Montgomery County regional system. This pumpage could affect low flow. Water-temperature data formerly collected at this site.
