STATION.--01429000 WEST BRANCH LACKAWAXEN RIVER AT
PROMPTON, PA
LOCATION.--Lat 41`35'14", long
75`19'38", Wayne County, Hydrologic Unit 02040103, on left
bank 500 ft downstream from Prompton Reservoir, 1,500 ft upstream from
bridge on U.S. Highway 6 at Prompton, and 2,000 ft upstream from Van
Auken Creek.
DRAINAGE AREA.--59.7 square miles.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--August 1944 to current year. Prior
to October 1952, published as Lackawaxen River at Prompton.
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder, crest-stage gage,
water-quality monitor, and weighing bucket precipitation gage. Datum of
gage is 1,083.14 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Prior
to February 14, 2024, the datum of gage was reported as 1,083.78 ft
above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929. Satellite and landline
telemetry at station.
REMARKS.--Flow regulated since 1960 by Prompton
Reservoir, 500 ft upstream.
COOPERATION.--Station established and maintained by
the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station
is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Philadelphia District,
the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, and the U.S.
Geological Survey.
REMARKS.--
The 15-minute precipitation data for this station are
temporary and will only be displayed for 120 days. Time series
of 1-hour or cumulative daily values will NOT be available for
retrieval following the 120-day display period. Although the
instrumentation is calibrated at least once a year, the temporary
classification means that documented routine inspections and other
quality assurance measures are not performed that would make the
data acceptable for archival, retrieval, or future use in general
scientific or interpretive studies. |
