STATION.--03020000 TIONESTA CREEK AT TIONESTA CREEK DAM, PA.
LOCATION.--Lat 41`28'40", long 79`26'39", Forest County, Hydrologic Unit 05010003, on left bank, 100 ft downstream from outlet tunnel at Tionesta Dam, 1.5 mi southeast of Tionesta, and 1.2 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA.--479 square miles.
PERIOD OF RECORD.--1941-91, 2005-2009 (discharge measurements only), 2010 to current year. Prior to October 1970, published as "at Tionesta Creek Dam".
GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and heated tipping bucket precipitation gage. Datum of gage is 1,043.0 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Jul 1, 1954 to Dec 6. 1960, water-stage recorder at present site and at a datum 1.5 ft higher. See WSP 1305 or 1725 for historiy of changes prior to Jul 1, 1954. Prior to April 4, 2023, the datum of gage was reported as 1,043.43 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION.--Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for the operation of this station is provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District.
REMARKS.-
The 1-hour precipitation data for this station are temporary and will only be displayed for 120 days. Time series of 1-hour or cumulative daily values will NOT be available for retrieval following the 120-day display period. Although the instrumentation is calibrated at least once a year, the temporary classification means that documented routine inspections and other quality assurance measures are not performed that would make the data acceptable for archival, retrieval, or future use in general scientific or interpretive studies.
