LOCATION - Lat 43°42'47", long 100°41'04.7" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in NW 1/4 SE 1/4 SW 1/4 sec.08, T.4 S., R.29 E., Jones County, SD, Hydrologic Unit 10140202, on left bank retaining wall 50 ft downstream from U.S. Hwy. 83 bridge and 11 mi north of White River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 6,209 mi² of which 7 mi² probably is noncontributing.
REVISIONS HISTORY - WDR SD-10-1: Drainage area.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 2001 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Nonrecording gage June 1 to July 26, 2001.  Datum of gage 1,771 ft above NAVD88, from topgraphic map. Prior to conversion to NAVD88, datum was published as 1,770 ft above NGVD29, from topgraphic map.
REMARKS - Accuracy of records for water years prior to 2014 are noted in the individual Annual Data Reports for those water years. For water years 2014 onward, records good except those for Oct. 27, 2021 thru Oct. 17, 2022, which are fair and estimated discharges, which are poor. Satellite data-collection platform at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 21,700 ft³/s, Mar. 24, 2019, gage height, 15.80 ft; maximum gage height, 18.21 ft, Mar. 15, 2011, backwater from ice, from floodmark; minimum daily discharge, 0.00 ft³/s, Sept. 10, 2003, no flow for some days in most years.
