LOCATION - Lat 32°29'11.8", long 99°42'52.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Taylor County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12060102, on right bank at upstream side of the south Interstate Highway 20 service road bridge at Abilene, 2.8 mi downstream from Lytle Creek, 3.3 mi upstream from Rainy Creek, 6.7 mi downstream from Buttonwillow Creek, 7.2 mi upstream from mouth, and 8.8 mi downstream from Kirby Lake.
DRAINAGE AREA - 136 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - May 1993 to Aug. 2000 (periodic discharge measurements), June 2001 to current year.
GAGE - Datum of gage is 1,647.87ft above NAVD88 as determined by GNSS survey. Water-stage recorder and satellite telemeter at station.
COOPERATION - The City of Abilene, TX, and the U.S. Geological Survey, USGS.
REMARKS - Since installation of gage, at least 10% of contributing drainage area has been regulated. No known diversions. No flow at times. Some records listed in the period of record may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood on Oct. 17, 2000 reached a stage of 7.72 ft, from floodmark, corresponding discharge of 2085cfs.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge: 6,280cfs, July 7, 2015 (gage height 9.08ft).
