LOCATION - Lat 31°33'20", long 97°21'22" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, McLennan County, TX, Hydrologic Unit 12060203, on right apron of bridge on Farm Road 185, 5.6 mi east of Crawford, and 9.8 mi upstream from South Bosque River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 78.2 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Aug. 1959 to Sept. 1985 (daily mean discharge), Oct. 1985 to Sept. 2007 (peak discharges greater than base discharge). Oct. 2007 to current year. PERIOD OF RECORD, Water-Quality.-- CHEMICAL DATA: June 1964. BIOCHEMICAL DATA: June 1964.
GAGE -

Water-stage recorder and concrete control.  Satellite telemetry at station. 

Datum of gage:  559.45 ft NAVD88 based on a Level 2 Static GNSS survey processed through OPUS, Ref Frame NAD83 (2011)(EPOCH:2010.0000) ITRF2014 (EPOCH:2022.8377) and Geoid 18.  The survey was completed on November 2nd, 2022, while occupying a TRM referenced to local datum via differential levels. 

Prior to 11/2/2022, the datum of the gage was 560.54 ft NGVD29.

Prior to Oct. 27, 1959, nonrecording gage at same site and datum. 

REMARKS - Records rated fair except for estimated daily discharges and discharges below 5 ft³/s, which are poor. Since water year 1980, at least 10% of the contributing drainage area has been regulated. These structures control runoff from 42.0 mi² in the Hog Creek drainage basin. Some records listed in the "Period of Record" for surface water and water quality may not be available electronically.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage since 1900, 17.5 ft Sept. 26, 1936. Flood in Apr. or May 1957 reached a stage of 15.7 ft, from information by local residents.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - WATER YEARS 1959-1979: Maximum discharge, 15,400 ft³/s Oct. 4, 1959 (gage height, 14.31 ft); no flow at times.
AVERAGE DISCHARGE FOR PERIOD PRIOR TO REGULATION - 20 years (water years 1960-1979), 37.7 ft³/s (27,310 acre-ft/yr).
