14216000 LEWIS RIVER ABOVE MUDDY RIVER NEAR COUGAR, WA
LOCATION - Lat 46°03'38", long 121°59'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Skamania County, WA, Hydrologic Unit 17080002, in SE 1/4 sec. 30, T.7 N., R.7 E., Gifford Pinchot National Forest, on right bank 1.0 mile upstream from Pepper Creek, 1.9 miles upstream from Muddy River, 15.4 miles east of Cougar, and at mile 62.0.
DRAINAGE AREA - 227 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - August 1927 to September 1934, October 1954 to September 1970, April 2006 to current year. Records for August to October 1909, published in WSP 272, have been found to be unreliable and should not be used.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder and crest-stage gage. Datum of gage is 1,080 ft above NGVD of 1929 (from river-profile map) and 1,083.31 ft above NAVD of 1988 (USGS GNSS/Level survey, Aug. 20, 2022). August 1927 to September 1934 at datum 2.61 ft lower.
REMARKS - No regulation or diversion upstream from station. U.S. Geological Survey satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum discharge, 28,200 ft³/s, Dec. 9, 2015, gage height 13.09 ft, present datum; minimum discharge, 175 ft³/s, Nov. 21, 1929; minimum gage height, -0.13 ft, Sept. 28, 29, 1934, datum then in use.
