Provisional data for Wyoming

Questions or concerns about USGS streamflow data in Wyoming and Montana can be directed to Kirk Miller (kmiller@usgs.gov; 307-775-9168).

UPDATED December 12, 2017: USGS streamflow monitoring will be discontinued at the following site effective July 1, 2018:
  • 06755960 Crow Creek at 19th Street at Cheyenne, WY (1993 to present)
USGS streamflow monitoring will be discontinued at the following site effective October 1, 2018:
  • 06274300 Bighorn River at Basin, WY (1990 to present)
USGS streamflow monitoring was discontinued at the following sites effective October 1, 2017:
  • 06225000 Bull Lake Creek near Lenore, WY (1918 to present)
  • 06225500 Wind River near Crowheart, WY (1945 to present)
  • 06317020 Wild Horse Creek near Arvada, WY (2000 to present)
  • 06425720 Belle Fourche River below Rattlesnake Creek near Piney, WY (2001 to present)
USGS monitoring activities at these sites were funded by partner agencies. Lack of partner funding for these sites results in discontinuation of all streamgaging activities. Questions or concerns can be directed to Kirk Miller (kmiller@usgs.gov; 307-775-9168).

Provisional Data Statement

Data are provisional and subject to revision until they have been thoroughly reviewed and received final approval.

Real-time data relayed by satellite or other telemetry are automatically screened to not display improbable values until they can be verified.

Provisional data may be inaccurate due to instrument malfunctions or physical changes at the measurement site. Subsequent review based on field inspections and measurements may result in significant revisions to the data.

Data users are cautioned to consider carefully the provisional nature of the information before using it for decisions that concern personal or public safety or the conduct of business that involves substantial monetary or operational consequences.

Information concerning the accuracy and appropriate uses of these data or concerning other hydrologic data may be obtained from the USGS.
