LOCATION - Lat 32°25'38", long 80°40'10" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Beaufort County, SC, Hydrologic Unit 03050208, attached to concrete pier of US Highway 21 bridge, near main channel of Beaufort River (Intracoastal Waterway), approximately 1000 ft from north end of bridge, at Beaufort.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

October 1998 to March 2013.

April 2023 to current year.

GAGE - Data Collection Platform. Datum of gage is North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.  Prior to April 12, 2023, datum of gage is 8.67 ft below NGVD of 1929 (from South Carolina Department of Transportation benchmark, elevation by National Geodetic Survey 1984).
COOPERATION - South Carolina Department of Natural Resources.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally fair. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Gage heights at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides.

INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality multiprobe and data collection platform.
REMARKS - Specific conductance records rated good except for Dec. 20 to Jan. 29, which are fair and Oct. 4 to Nov. 19, which are poor. Temperature records rated excellent. Dissolved oxygen records rated good except for Nov. 2 to Dec. 12, which are fair. Prior to October 1, 2003 dissolved oxygen concentrations are not corrected for salinity.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 54,900 microsiemens/cm, May 23, 2002; minimum, 31,000 microsiemens/cm, Apr. 10, 2003.
