LOCATION - Lat 34°08'33.8", long 84°50'20.4" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Bartow County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03150104, referenced to North American Datum (NAD) of 1927, at bridge on GA HWY 61, 3.0 miles Southwest of Cartersville, GA, 9.6 miles downstream from Allatoona Dam, and at river mile 38.22.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,345 mi².
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: October 2010 to current year.
GAGE HEIGHT: November 1985 to current year. Gage height records collected from May 1937 to November 1939 at a site 200 feet upstream and from November 1939 until at least 1961, data were collected at same site, are contained in reports of National Weather Service. Gage height records were collected at same site since December 1949 and discharge measurements for the period of August 1945 to May 1975 in files of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. Datum of gage is 650.77 feet above North American Vertical Datum (NAVD) of 1988.
COOPERATION - U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor. Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Flow affected by Allatoona Reservoir Dam since December 1949.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood in April 1886 reached a gage height of 37.0 feet, information supplied by U.S. Weather Service. Flood of December 19, 1919 reached a gage height of 31.0 feet, information supplied by a local resident. Flood of November 29, 1948 reached a gage height of 30.0 feet, from U.S. Weather Service gage height records. Minimum observed gage height, 3.8 feet, September 25, 1939, from U.S. Weather Service gage height records.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum recorded gage height, 20.74 feet, September 22, 2009; minimum recorded gage height, 4.06 feet, September 10, 1986.
