03015000 CONEWANGO CREEK AT RUSSELL, PA
LOCATION - Lat 41°56'17", long 79°08'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, Warren County, PA, Hydrologic Unit 05010002, on left bank of highway bridge on SR 957 at Russell, 0.5 mi upstream from Akeley Run, and 8.0 mi upstream from mouth.
DRAINAGE AREA - 816 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1083: 1936 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1939 to current year. Monthly discharge only for October and November 1939 published in WSP 1305.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,221.3 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988.   Prior to Apr 10, 1941, non-recording gage at same site and datum. Satellite telemetry at station.  Prior to November 10, 2022, the datum of gage was reported as 1,221.77 ft above National Geodetic Vertical Datum of 1929.
COOPERATION - Station established and maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey. Funding for this station provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Pittsburgh District, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection and the U.S. Geological Survey.
REMARKS -

Flow regulated since November 1949 by Chautauqua Lake. Record considered good except those for estimated daily discharges, which are poor.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of March 1936 reached a stage of 10.9 ft from floodmark, discharge, 14,600 ft³/s.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - April 2002 to current year.
COOPERATION - Water-quality samples were collected as part of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Water-Quality Network (WQN) with cooperation from the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
REMARKS - As of October 2013, results from discrete water quality samples collected at this site are available through the U.S. Geological Survey National Water Information System web interface on the "Water Quality for the Nation" webpage. Analyses for pH, water temperature, specific conductance, and dissolved oxygen were performed on site. All other sample analyses were performed at the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection laboratory in Harrisburg, PA. Occasionally, values for filtered parameters may exceed values for the corresponding unfiltered parameter. These results are within the limits of analytical precision and methods.
