LOCATION - Lat 38°57'57.10", long 98°51'14.73" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in sec.35, T.12 S., R.14 W., Russell County, KS, Hydrologic Unit 10260009, on left bank at downstream side of bridge on U.S. Highway 281, 2.0 mi downstream from Salt Creek, 5.0 mi north of Russell, and at mile 190.6.
DRAINAGE AREA - 1,502 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1919: 1960. WDR KS-92-1: 1988-89 (M), 1990-91 (M).
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - October 1945 to September 1953, June 1959 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 1,552.10 ft. above mean sea level (NAVD88). Prior to Jan. 22, 1946, nonrecording gage at same site and datum. April 24, 2004, to September 30, 2004, at a temporary location 0.5 mi upstream at a different datum.
REMARKS - Low flow partially regulated at times by irrigation. Satellite telemeter at station.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum stage and discharge 25.73 ft, discharge 41,500 cfs on July 21, 1993, NGVD29.
