  • Water-Year Summary reports summarize a year of hydrologic data in a printer-friendly format.
  • For water years 2014 onward, choose a water year and parameter and an on-demand Water-Year Summary report will be generated.
  • For water years 2006 through 2013, choose a water year and an Annual Water Data Report will be provided.
  • For water years 2005 and earlier, Annual Water Data Reports may be available in digital format.
  • Not all sites have reports available for every water year.

07381331 GIWW at Houma, LA
LOCATION - Lat 29°35'53", long 90°42'36" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Terrebonne Parish, LA, Hydrologic Unit 08090302, on the east bank of stream, south of Main Street Bridge.

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -

July 1997 to September 2001 (gage height only). October 2001 to October 2019. Unpublished data prior to October 1999 housed at the USGS Louisiana Water Science Center.

GAGE - Water-stage recorder and acoustic velocity meter. Datum of Gage 1.20 feet below NAVD88 GEOID12a EPOCH 2010.0000.

Positive and negative flows at this site are defined by direction and are specified to be parallel to the channel at the gage location. The positive flow direction is North-northeast. Streamflow at this site is affected significantly by astronomical tides. Astronomical tides cause significant cycles of approximately 24.84 hours at this site. Because a different portion of the 24.84 hour tidal cycle is averaged in successive daily (24-hour) computations, a systematic secondary oscillation, unrelated to basin hydrology and having a period of about two weeks may be apparent in daily data published from October 1999 to September 2015
REMARKS - No estimated daily discharge. Site affected by wind, tide, and boat traffic. Reverse flow at times throughout the year. Satellite telemetry at site. Records poor.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Maximum recorded positive discharge, 9,190 ft³/s, May 8, 2008; maximum recorded gage height, 4.87 ft, Sep 13, 2008; maximum recorded negative discharge, -8,510 ft³/s, Aug. 31, 2012; minimum recorded gage height, -0.34 ft, Dec 15, 1997.
WATER-QUALITY RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - July 1997 to October 2019. Unpublished data prior to Oct. 1, 1999 housed in the Louisiana Water Science Center, Baton Rouge Field Office.
PERIOD OF DAILY RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: July 1997 to October 2019. SALINITY: October 2002 to October 2019. WATER TEMPERATURE: July 1997 to October 2019.
INSTRUMENTATION - Water-quality monitor collecting temperature and specific conductance.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - SPECIFIC CONDUCTANCE: Maximum, 27,500 microseimens/cm, Oct 13, 1997; minimum, 114 microseimens/cm, May 11, 2013. SALINITY: Maximum, 14.7 ppt, June 27, 2012; minimum, 0.1 ppt, on many days. WATER TEMPERATURE: Maxmimum, 33.7°C, Aug 14, 2007; minimum 4.9°C, Jan 4, 2001.
