REMARKS - Water levels affected by pumping. The well has been reported as open to the aquifer from 6 to 20 ft, based on field notes from 1968. However, it appears the well was only drilled to a depth of about 8.5 ft below land surface in 1940. Attempts to clear the well beyond that depth have not been successful. However, water-level data for water-level elevations above -2.24 ft NGVD are considered valid. See WELL CHARACTERISTICS. The station has been reconstructed on several occasions, most recently after being destroyed in September 1987. See DATUM. Records of water levels prior to October 1973 are available in files of the U.S. Geological Survey.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Highest water level, 5.43 ft NGVD, Oct. 15, 16,1999; lowest measured, 3.12 ft below NGVD, May 5, 1993.
