LOCATION - Lat 45°24'26.80", long 93°59'12.10" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, in NE 1/4 SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.30, T.34 N., R.29 W., Sherburne County, MN, Hydrologic Unit 07010203, Located 2 miles south of Clear Lake, Minnesota off of River Road SE (County Rd 8) and 85th Avenue to 112th Street SE. The well is located next to the southeast corner of the detached garage. The well is covered up by a wooden shelter with a bird house on top.
GROUNDWATER RECORDS
WELL CHARACTERISTICS - Depth 19.86 ft. Upper casing diameter 2 in; top of first opening 14.86 ft, bottom of last opening 19.86 ft. The hole for well ALUS-02 was drilled with an 8.25-inch-diameter, hydraulic rotary drill rig, on 17 September 1997 to a depth of 20.5 feet. The well is constructed of a 5-feet-long, 2-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC, 0.010-inch slotted, flush-threaded screen attached to about 15.5 feet of 2-inch-diameter, schedule-40 PVC casing. The casing stickup was 1.90 feet above land surface on 02 August 2012. The open interval of the well is 15.5 - 20.5 feet below land surface and the total well depth is 19.86 feet.
DATUM - Land-surface datum is 959.11 ft above North American Vertical Datum of 1988. Measuring point: top of casing, not protection casing and/or post, 1.90 ft above land-surface datum, Jan. 1, 2005 to present. The current measuring point is a black mark on the top of the PVC well casing (not protection post), which was 1.90 feet above land surface on Aug. 02, 2012. Elevation of that measuring point was 961.01 plus-or-minus 0.21 feet above sea level, North American Vertical Datum of 1988, based on a RTK GPS survey on Sept. 18, 2012.
PERIOD OF RECORD - Water levels are recorded periodically from 17 September 1997 to the present. Hourly water levels were recorded from 11 September 2012 at 17:00 CDT to 04 November 2014 at 14:00 CST.
GAGE -

Continuous water level, water temperature, and battery voltage were measured with an OTT Orpheus Mini 0-4m pressure transducer on Sept. 11, 2012 at 17:00 CDT. These data were recorded hourly by the same OTT Orpheus Mini pressure transducer, which had a datalogger built into it. The datalogger was housed inside of the 2-inch PVC well casing, which has an aluminum locking well cap on top of that. The gage was powered by 3 AA lithium batteries that were inside of the communications rod. Data was downloaded manually and no telemetry or phone line was wired into the gage.

An unheated Onset RG3 tipping-bucket rain gage was added to the station on Apr. 03, 2013 at 08:15 CDT. The rain gage was mounted on a green T-post, located approximately 0.5 miles southwest of well ALUS-02, near the Travelers Country Club Golf Course. The rain gage had a built-in datalogger, which measured and recorded precipitation quarter-hourly. Rain gage was nominally accurate to 0.01 inches.

The pressure transducer and raingage were removed from the site on Nov. 04, 2014, due to data collection completion for the I-94 Corridor project.

This well is not currently gaged. Only visited periodically to measure discrete groundwater levels and periodically collect discrete water quality samples.

COOPERATION - This site is operated by the U.S. Geological Survey as a monitoring well for the Upper Mississippi (UMIS) National Water-Quality Assessment (NAWQA) program. This well is included in the UMIS NAWQA Agricultural Land-Use Study (ALUS) network. The well was incorporated into the I-94 Growth Corridor Study during August 2012 to November 2014. The I-94 Growth Corridor Study was a collaborative effort between the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Geological Survey.
CLIMATOLOGICAL RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - Quarter-hourly precipitation were recorded from 03 April 2013 at 08:15 CDT to 04 November 2014 at 14:30 CST.
INSTRUMENTATION - Precipitation is measured with an Onset RG3 tipping-bucket rain gage, which is accurate to 0.01 inches. The rain gage is unheated and uncovered during the winter. Thus precipitation data during freezing periods (about December through early April) result from melting of snow during warm periods and do NOT represent actual precipitation.
