LOCATION. --Lat 40°49'35", long
75°04'57" referenced to North American Datum of 1983,
Belvidere Town, Warren County, NJ, Hydrologic Unit 02040105, on
left bank at Belvidere, 800 ft downstream from Pequest River, 1,200
ft southeast of Riverton, PA, and at river mile 197.7.
DRAINAGE AREA. --4,535 mi2.
PERIOD OF RECORD. --October 1922 to current
year.
GAGE. --Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage 226.43
ft above NGVD of 1929, and was determined to be approximately
225.75 ft above NAVD of 1988 through the use of Vertcon. Prior to
Jan 1, 1929, nonrecording gage at site 200 ft upstream at same
datum.
EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD. --Flood of Oct
10, 1903 reached a stage of 28.6 ft (from floodmark), discharge,
250,000 ft3/s (from rating curve extended above 170,000
ft3/s).
COOPERATION. --Funding for this gage is provided
by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and the
U.S. Geological Survey.
