This gage is monitored in cooperation with the Southwest Florida Water Management District.

Southwest Florida Water Management District

LOCATION.--Lat 28°05'14", long 81°48'07", in SW1/4 sec.34, T.27 S., R.25 E., Polk County, Hydrologic Unit 03100101, on north shore of lake, 0.6 mi west of State Highway 559, and 1.7 mi north of Auburndale.

SURFACE AREA.--1,019 acres (1.59 mi2). Lake is in Saddle Creek Branch area of Peace River headwaters.

DRAINAGE AREA.--7.86 mi2.

PERIOD OF RECORD.--June 1945 to January 1948 (weekly); February 1958 to February 1960 (fragmentary); November 1971 to September 1992 (twice weekly); October 1992 to current year (weekly).

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and data-collection platform. Datum of gage is 100.00 ft above NGVD of 1929 (levels by Southwest Florida Water Management District); gage reading have been reduced to elevations above NGVD of 1929. Prior to Mar. 18, 1975, at site 0.6 mi east of datum 31.90 ft higher; Mar. 19, 1975 to Jan. 6, 2003 at site 0.4 mi east at present datum.
