LOCATION - Lat 31°15'33.3", long 85°06'39.8" referenced to North American Datum of 1983, Early County, GA, Hydrologic Unit 03130004, at left end of George W. Andrews Lock and Dam, 1.3 miles downstream from Omusee Creek, 2.3 miles south of Columbia, AL, and at mile 46.5.
DRAINAGE AREA - 8,210 mi².

SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD -
DISCHARGE: October 1975 to current year.
GAGE-HEIGHT: September 1998 to current year.
GAGE - Satellite transmitter with gate-opening and water-stage recorders. Datum of headwater gage and tail-water gage is National Geodetic Vertical Datum (NGVD) of 1929.
COOPERATION - U.S Army Corps of Engineers-Mobile District, Southern Nuclear Corporation.
REMARKS - Gage-height records are generally good. Discharge records are generally fair except for estimated discharges, which are poor.  Additional details on the accuracy of the records can be obtained by contacting the USGS South Atlantic Water Science Center at gs-w-ga_nwisweb_data_inquiries@usgs.gov.

Flow regulated by Lake Sidney Lanier, West Point Lake, Lake Harding, Walter F. George Lake, and George W. Andrews Reservoir.

EXTREMES OUTSIDE PERIOD OF RECORD - Flood of March 1929, thought to be the highest since 1827, based on station on Chattahoochee River at Columbia, AL, 2.4 miles upstream.
