NOTE: During winter months, stage and discharge may be significantly affected by backwater from ice, resulting in incorrect discharge data. Consequently, discharge data may not be displayed during periods of ice effect. Click here for more information.




The USGS operates these sites in cooperation with the Prairie Island Indian Community to monitor groundwater flow and quality in the surficial aquifer on Prairie Island. These data will be used to understand the interactions of shallow groundwater with surface waters, understand the effects of this interaction on environmental resources around the Island, and to manage drinking-water from the aquifer.
