LOCATION - Lat 44°44'45", long 92°48'00" referenced to North American Datum of 1927, in SE 1/4 SE 1/4 sec.09, T.26 N., R.20 W., Pierce County, WI, Hydrologic Unit 07040001, on left bank at Prescott, 200 ft downstream from St. Croix River, 300 ft south of Chicago, Burlington & Quincy Railroad bridge, 800 ft south of bridge on U.S. Highway 10, and at mile 811.4 upstream from Ohio River.
DRAINAGE AREA - 44,800 mi².
REVISIONS HISTORY - WSP 1508: 1941. WRD MN-74: 1973.
SURFACE-WATER RECORDS
PERIOD OF RECORD - June 1928 to current year.
GAGE - Water-stage recorder. Datum of gage is 649.50 ft above sea level (NGVD of 1929). Prior to Aug. 2, 1932, non-recording gage at railroad bridge 300 ft upstream at following datums: June 3, 1928 to Sept. 30, 1929, 19.27 ft higher; Oct. 1, 1929 to Sept. 30, 1930, 17.68 ft higher; Oct. 1, 1930 to Aug. 1, 1932, 19.28 ft higher. Aug. 2, 1932 to Oct. 30, 1938, water-stage recorder at present site at datum 19.28 ft higher; Nov. 1, 1938 to Sept. 7, 1971, water-stage recorder at present site at datum 50.00 ft lower.
REMARKS - Discharges below approximately 30,000 ft³/s may be computed by routing flows from gages at the Mississippi River at Hastings, MN and the St. Croix River at Prescott, WI.

10/01/13-09/30/14: Records good to fair except for those determined by flow routing which are fair, and those that are estimated, which are poor. In the 2014 water year, discharges for the periods Oct. 1 to Apr. 8, July 27 to Sept. 4, and Sept. 19 to Sept. 30 were obtained by routing.
EXTREMES FOR PERIOD OF RECORD - Minimum discharge, 1,380 ft³/s, July 13, 1940.
